Swedru Senior High school, formerly Swedru Secondary School is a co-educational boarding institution situated in Agona Swedru in Central Region of Ghana. The school commonly known as SWESCO is the first Ghana Educational Trust School built by the first Prime Minister and President. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1958. The foundation stone was laid on June 28, 1958 by the then Trade and Industry Minister Hon, Kojo Botsio. The land for SWESCO covering one mile square was released for the project by the Nana Yamfo Asuako VII, chief of Agona Asafo, through Opanyin Kweku Antwi and Mr. D.N Dorherty, a successful Sierra Leon business man then living at Agona Kwansakron.
